Job Description: 

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking a Truck Driver - Class 1 to join our Highway Crew, based out of Crescent Valley, BC. This position requires frequent travel to support highway projects across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Must be licensed and able to safely operate a Class 1 truck.
  • Complete driving assignments in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ability to work extended hours and irregular days with irregular breaks.
  • Will be required to maintain necessary logs, driving records, and DOT certifications.
  • Complete daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Complete all other tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Must be willing to travel and work out of town occasionally (hotels/LOA provided) when required.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Class 1 license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Lowbed experience preferred
  • Pass an MVR test
  • Experience operating a Class 1 truck in construction areas is preferred but not required
  • Experience with moving equipment and assets
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and support co‑workers or supervisors by assisting with other duties as required

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate trucks and perform daily inspections.
  • Some mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to back up efficiently and safely.
  • Knowledge of road construction procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety legislation and the ability to accurately complete required documentation.
  • Ability to identify safety hazards.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required.
  • Willing to work in field and in all weather conditions.
  • Willing to work overtime (may include weekends) during the busy season (April to October) and on call as necessary.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • This is a safety sensitive position; selected candidate must pass drug and alcohol testing as required.

This is a unionized position with an anticipated wage of $38.73 CAD per hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
