PT Lifeguard I

As a PT Lifeguard I at the Parks Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons at our aquatic facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor activities in and around the water, providing immediate assistance in case of emergencies. You will also be responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment for everyone. Additionally, you will engage with the community, promoting water safety and encouraging healthy recreational activities. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to a positive and secure experience for all visitors to our parks and aquatic facilities.

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized organization (or ability to obtain one within 60 days)
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Ability to swim proficiently and demonstrate lifeguarding skills.  Must pass a swim test.

• Experience working as a lifeguard in a recreational setting.
• Knowledge of water safety and rescue techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.

• →Monitor pool activities and ensure the safety of all swimmers.
• →Perform rescues and administer first aid as necessary.
• →Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.
• →Conduct regular safety checks and maintain cleanliness of the pool area.
• →Assist in organizing and leading water safety programs and events.

The required skills of swimming proficiency and lifeguarding techniques will be utilized daily as you monitor the pool and respond to emergencies. Your CPR and First Aid certifications will be critical in providing immediate care when needed, ensuring the safety of all patrons. Communication skills will be essential for effectively enforcing pool rules and engaging with visitors, fostering a welcoming environment. Additionally, your organizational skills will come into play when planning and executing water safety programs. Overall, a combination of these skills will enable you to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere at our aquatic facilities.
