Job Title: Foundry Production Worker

Location: Montrose, MN

At the direction of the department lead, perform the tasks needed to complete the production and finishing of castings. This includes melting metal, pouring molds, knock-out, heat treating, shot blasting, grinding, and packaging of parts/castings.


  • This position is crucial in the iron melting process.
  • Remove castings from molds using appropriate tools and machinery
  • Perform finishing operations such as grinding, sanding and polishing to meet product specifications
  • Engage in manual tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying and moving materials
  • Operate tools or machinery involved in casting products including furnaces, molds and ladles.
  • Understand and proactively address quality issues as they arise
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned

  • Previous experience with iron pouring.
  • Previous foundry & metal casting experience.
  • Must be able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Be detailed oriented, organized, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently

Routinely able to:

  • Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend
  • Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck
  • Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality
  • Read and understand written English language work instructions
  • Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions
  • Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
  • Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Hearing Protection
    • Protective Eyewear
    • Gloves
    • Additional PPE may as required by specific tasks
