Position Summary & Objective:
To technically support the shift Associate Manager, Operations to deliver the production plan through controlling and coordinating the activities of the available people and equipment to ensure that the relevant activities, products, or services are planned, processed, and delivered to specified standards, on time, within budget and relevant target KPI’s.
To work at/with a senior level within the Operations Department and reports directly into the Production Manager. The Associate Manager, Operations will also be required to work closely with other Associate Manager’s daily with the focus would be to facilitate the machine/equipment challenges.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position:
- Lead, control and coordinate the equipment to ensure that the relevant activities, products, or services are planned, processed, and delivered to specified standards, on time, within budget and target KPI’s
- Support the Associate Manager to empower the subordinates/teams to have the ability and commitment to achieve KPI’s and resolve issues within their area through coaching, training, and effective delegation.
- Support the Associate Manager and the Production Manager by providing data for the Level 2 Escalation Meeting in the Business Unit, Operations Reviews and any other requirements.
- Deliver the weekly Delivery Tip Meeting for the Business Unit.
- Compile information and write EAs for Business Unit.
- Leads by example, inspires, and engages with others to develop, continuously improve, commit to KPI’s and to ‘go the extra mile’.
- Develop individuals through coaching and mentoring and support the flexible labor model and multiple skilling such as 1-2-1 and 1-3-1.
- Deliver performance to agreed quality, cost, and delivery targets, using relevant Lean Manufacturing Tools and actively drive Continuous Improvement to improve quality and production efficiency.
- Champion the core team with Associate Manager’s / Manager and the Quality Engineer to facilitate the adoption and integration of lean manufacturing and best practice techniques to secure performance improvements and efficiency
- Ensure the effective utilisation and cost optimization of all resources within the area.
- Support and facilitate customer / supplier visits
- Support the Associate Manager in the development of strategic plans for the area.
- Proactively plan and engage with other departments/areas to ensure a collaborative approach and effective resolution of issues.
- Provide point of escalation as per the company procedure
- Ensure conformance to standards such as Quality, HSE and Security.
- Ensure effective communication within their area by cascading information, plans, priorities and providing feedback on KPI’s etc. to direct reports through team briefs, 1-1’s, visible management systems and MBWA
- Ensure the successful development and use of FMEA’S, Control Plans, SOP’s, Risk Assessments, Work Instructions, data collection & analysis etc., and enable an understanding of process capabilities and continuous improvement. Develop and conduct compliance audits for Risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Standard Operating Procedures and Workplace Organization
- Drive technological and digital improvements on shopfloor together with the production manager, Associate Manager’s and shop floor employees. This will include improvements to data collection, communication (including handovers) and reporting.
- Support with any required FATs, SATs and UATs for any new equipment in the business unit.
- Work with suppliers to address equipment or material issues. This will include root problem analysis, working remotely with suppliers and compiling reports/data as per Business Unit requirement to support both operations and engineering.

Requirements

- Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- Knowledge and experience regarding the application of structured problem-solving methods and the elimination of waste from the process
- In depth knowledge of all the equipment/machinery inducing any inspection systems, production/technical processes and procedures, including HSE, production output, quality, security, and housekeeping.
- Highly self-motivated and pro-active with Self-teaching aptitude.
- Understanding of and ability to communicate World Class Manufacturing techniques including Lean manufacturing, 6 Sigma, SMED, 5S, VSM, 8D etc.
- Good understanding of budgetary controls and variance analysis within an operational environment.
- Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop people and work within a team environment with a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Will make decisions based on own assessment of visual spoilage. Use of various CI tools and techniques to eliminate/reduce spoil. Responsible for ensuring acceptable quality is delivered to customer.
- Communication skills: Excellent ability to listen and advise clearly to others.

- Track record as change agent and of implementing best practice though analytical tools and able to make systematic and rational judgments.
- Office and Factory shop floor Work Environment.
This role has periods where it is sedentary in nature, you must be able to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time, but ability to operate machinery is also required.
