Freelance Senior Information Security Consultant

We're looking for an experienced Senior Security Consultant to join our trusted freelance network. If you’re driven by impact, comfortable leading projects, and ready to coach others while delivering strategic value, you’ll fit right in. 

As a freelance consultant with Cingulum, you will work closely with our teams and clients. You will also have the opportunity to bring a junior consultant onto projects and mentor them in the Cingulum way of working.

As a freelance Senior Information Security Consultant, you’ll work closely with our clients to lead projects that strengthen their cybersecurity posture, prepare them for audits, and build long-term resilience. 

Your typical day could include: 

• Lead NIS2 or ISO27001 implementation and readiness tracks. 

• Design governance, risk management, and business continuity frameworks tailored to each client’s needs. 

• Act as a CISO (ad interim or fractional) for clients, offering strategic guidance and oversight. 

• Coach junior consultants, review deliverables, and ensure quality across engagements. 

• Support external audits or take the lead on internal readiness assessments. 

• Monitor project performance and keep clients aligned on timelines, scope, and impact. 

You’ll be supported by a dedicated project team, and have access to Cingulum & CRANIUM Group’s proven templates, methods, and tooling and we would love to see you at our internal Team Meetings & Buildings!

You’re a seasoned security expert with a clear head and a collaborative mindset. You know when to lead, when to coach, and when to challenge. 

You have: 

• At least 5 years’ experience in cybersecurity, IT governance, or risk management. 

• A confident grasp of ISO 27001, CyFun, and related frameworks. 

• Strong stakeholder communication skills, both technical and business-facing. You know when to talk jargon and when to simplify.  

• The ability to work independently within structured engagements. 

• Fluency in Dutch and English is required. Professional knowledge of French is considered a plus.

Bonus points if you have: 

• CISM, CIPT, ISO27001 (LI or LA), or NIS2 Lead Implementer certification. 

• Experience working in critical sectors (finance, energy, healthcare, etc.). 

• Strong supplier risk management knowledge aligned with NIS2. 

1. Your application will first be reviewed through a first phone call with one of our Recruiters.

2. If there is mutual alignment and a suitable opportunity, you will be invited to our headquarters in Zaventem for an on-site meeting with our CEO, Dave Geentjens, and a member of our HR team. During this interview, you will be asked to complete a business case to demonstrate your approach and expertise.

3. Following the interview, you will receive a concluding phone call from our CEO or an HR representative to - hopefully – confirm our collaboration.

4. Once confirmed, you will be welcomed into the Cingulum team and introduced to our Way of Working (WoW).
