POSITION PURPOSE

The Groundskeeper is primarily responsible for maintaining the building, grounds and mechanical equipment with particular attention towards safety and security.

Maintains positive guest relations at all times.

Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program

Check work orders and night report for any assignment to be completed

Perform Preventive Maintenance work orders. For example:

Monitor and maintain all laundry and kitchen equipment

Maintain guestrooms using rooms preventive maintenance program

Change air-conditioning filters per the maintenance program

Check HVAC equipment; change filters, belts, bearings and lubricate as necessary. Also check for unusual noise or vibration, and adjust as necessary

Change or repair locks as needed

Perform general maintenance to guestrooms and public areas

Perform guest requests as assigned

Assist in all phases of repair work

Assist other engineering personnel as instructed by supervisor

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area

Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools. Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces

Ensure security of any assigned keys

Complete any/all assigned projects

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education/Experience:Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and cleanliness of the hotel's exterior grounds, gardens, and outdoor common areas to ensure a welcoming first impression for guests. This role performs a variety of landscaping, grounds maintenance, and light outdoor repair tasks, working closely with the Engineering/Facilities team to keep the property's exterior in excellent condition year-round.

Responsibilities

→Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns, hedges, and shrubs on a regular schedule
→Plant, water, fertilize, and prune flowers, trees, and landscaping beds
→Remove weeds, debris, litter, and leaves from grounds, walkways, and parking areas
→Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, reporting malfunctions promptly
→Clear seasonal hazards from walkways, entrances, and parking lots
→Maintain outdoor furniture, signage, fountains, and pool decking areas as applicable
→Operate and maintain grounds equipment (mowers, blowers, trimmers, etc.) safely and report needed repairs
→Assist with setup and breakdown of outdoor events as needed
→Conduct routine walk-throughs to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs
→Support general property upkeep in coordination with the Engineering/Maintenance team
→Follow all safety protocols when handling equipment, chemicals, and fertilizers

Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
Comfortable operating landscaping equipment and power tools
Strong attention to detail and pride in property appearance
Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends/holidays
Valid driver's license may be required
Strong communication and teamwork skills

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior groundskeeping, landscaping, or general maintenance experience preferred
Experience in a hotel or hospitality setting is a plus
Basic knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and lawn equipment maintenance preferred
