About the Nutrition Team 

Our Nutrition Team is responsible for maintaining the depth, accuracy, and reliability of our nutrition database. We set the industry standard for comprehensive and precise nutrition information, going beyond simple calorie tracking to include detailed macro and micronutrient data. Our team supports people tracking what they eat with Cronometer, ensuring they have the data they need to manage their diet, health conditions, and wellness goals. 

Position: Food Database Scientist (Nutrition Researcher) 

We are seeking a Food Database Scientist with a background in food science, nutrition, or a related field to join our team. This role is central to developing and maintaining our food composition database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and scientific rigor. You will bring together research, data analysis, and documentation practices to advance the quality and reliability of nutrition information that supports our products. 

What You’ll Do 

• Research and evaluate reliable sources of nutrient composition data. 

• Assess research methodologies to ensure data validity and comparability. 

• Add, update, and verify nutrient values for foods in the database. 

• Maintain clear documentation of data sources, protocols, and decisions to ensure transparency and traceability. 

• Explore and implement AI-driven tools and data analytics methods to improve data processing and team workflows. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new approaches and support continuous improvement. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry, or related discipline. 

• Foundation in analytical and research methodologies relevant to food composition. 

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to manage large datasets. 

• Strong written communication skills for documenting methodologies and findings. 

• Experience with data analytics tools and workflows and exposure to AI/ML applications are strong assets.
