The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 407 - Research Methods in Public Health. The course is a 3-unit class taught over the course of the semester.

Examines fundamental principles and methodologies used in conducting research within the field of public health. It explores various research designs, data collection methods, analysis techniques, and ethical considerations essential for investigating and addressing public health issues, and it emphasizes evaluation of published public health research.

  • An earned Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) is required. 
  • The candidate should have relevant experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required.  
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. 
  • A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (e.g. PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.) and demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to communicate with culturally diverse groups of students is highly desired. 
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
 Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,836 - $6,240 per full-time month

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Education Code 89521 Requirements: Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
