The Department of Psychology is seeking a dependable, organized student assistant to provide administrative support. The position offers experience in office operations, professional communication, records organization, and customer service. The student assistant reports directly to the Psychology Department Chair and works under established departmental procedures.
Responsibilities
~1 min readUnder direct supervision, duties include but not limited to assist professional staff with the following:
- Assist with department email accounts and respond to general questions using approved information or templates; refer questions requiring specialized knowledge or judgment to the appropriate person.
- Prepare correspondence, announcements, forms, rosters, sign-in sheets, labels, and other department materials.
- Enter and update information in department spreadsheets, trackers, and databases; check records for completeness and follow up on missing information as directed.
- Maintain an orderly reception and work area, track office supplies, and complete other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Greet visitors, answer phones, provide general department information, and refer students, faculty, staff, and community members to appropriate campus offices or resources.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, preparing materials, and supporting meeting and event logistics.
- Organize electronic and paper files, scan and copy documents, and maintain accurate records in accordance with department procedures and confidentiality requirements.
- Distribute approved department announcements and assist with updates to online information, flyers, and, as needed, selected physical bulletin boards or displays.
- Provide routine administrative support for designated departmental projects, including projects coordinated with the Associate Chair, as assigned by the Psychology Department Chair.
Requirements

- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
