Requirements
~1 min read- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field.
- Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
- Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience developing advisement procedures, Experience with Educational Opportunity and/or Trio Program is a plus.
- Knowledge of academic advising principles, university policies, degree requirements, and student success strategies.
- Ability to provide holistic academic advisement and develop educational plans that support student persistence and timely graduation.
- Skill in building collaborative relationships with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, and campus partners while providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to analyze student and advising data, prepare reports, and use technology platforms such as Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, SOLAR, EAB, or similar student success systems.
- Knowledge of Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP), student retention practices, and services supporting historically underrepresented, first-generation, and low-income students.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, presentation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, conduct workshops, and coordinate outreach and recruitment activities.
- Must have demonstrated experience working with students in multi-cultural/multi-ethnic populations; students that are historically under-represented, under prepared, low income and first-generation college students. Working knowledge of SOLAR and/or EAB program.
