\r\nBring your Graphic Technology skills to CTECS\r\nand help shape the next generation!\r\n\r\n\r\nThe State of Connecticut Technical Education and Career System System (CTECS) is hiring for a THS Graphics Tehcnology�Instructor (THS Instructor - Professional) to join our professional education team at Bullard Havens Technical High School, located in Bridgeport, CT.�\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTo be considered for this position, Graphic Technology\r\nInstructors must possess the following certification and license:\r\n\r\n Connecticut Teacher Certification Occupational Subject Endorsement #090 in\r\n Graphics Technology,�or eligibility for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP), is required;��OR\r\n A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant, varied, hands-on experience in\r\n the graphics field; AND\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience must encompass all areas specified in the program description in\r\n order to effectively teach the approved Graphics curriculum;\r\n Formal training (college or technical institutes) can count up to five (5)\r\n years. Formal training credit should be applied for coursework directly\r\n associated with graphics;\r\n Current OSHA 10- General Industry Certification.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Through exemplary trade and academic programming, CTECS prepares trade-bound students to meet the skilled workforce needs in Connecticut. Become inspired to join our educational workforce!\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n YOUR ROLE�\r\n \r\n \r\n Graphic Technology instructors are expected to\r\n be capable of teaching all aspects of the curriculum. The Graphics program is a\r\n mixture of theoretical and hands-on training. The theoretical training will\r\n require instructors to plan and deliver information, and then assess the\r\n student’s competency. This will be done in a variety of methods, some will\r\n include the use of educational technology. Instructors need the basic computer\r\n skills to access online curriculum/resources and present lessons to students.\r\n \r\n The hands-on portion of the Graphics curriculum will require instructors to\r\n possess the technical skill to complete various design and creation tasks.\r\n Along with standing and moving, many tasks will require the ability to bend at\r\n the waist, squat, and kneel, as well as work with and manipulate items above\r\n the head. Lifting and transporting heavier items can also be expected.\r\n \r\n While working in the laboratory environment, the Graphics instructor will be\r\n required to use a variety of hand and power tools. This will require fine and\r\n gross motor skills to appropriately manipulate work pieces and tools. The shop\r\n projects and operations include, but are not limited to, using basic hand tools\r\n and using portable power tools e.g., corded/cordless drills, etc.\r\n \r\n Instructors will also be required to participate in building and district level\r\n professional development and collaboration opportunities. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System this class is accountable for educating students in academic and trade coursework.\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Intermediate-level computer skills including Microsoft\r\nOffice and Google Products.\r\n• Preferred candidates will have completed VTE 113, VTE 116, and a Special\r\nEducation course.\r\n• Preferred candidates will have experience in teaching or substitute teaching\r\nand be able to demonstrate methods of delivering lessons, assessing student\r\nknowledge, and the use of educational technology. This may include involvement\r\nin student/community activities.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.\r\n
