- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $128,052 to $142,649 + super
Are you looking to make a meaningful contribution to threatened species conservation in NSW?
Our Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer to support the development of strategic policy and advice that informs government decision-making and environmental outcomes across NSW. The role will help shape conservation decisions that protect some of NSW's most vulnerable wildlife and ecosystems by contributing to the development of threatened species nature strategy policy.
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will contribute to complex policy projects and provide evidence-based advice on emerging issues affecting the environment and natural resources sector. Working with stakeholders across government, you will research policy issues, analyse information and help develop practical solutions that support informed decision-making. This role offers the opportunity to influence policy with statewide impact while working in a collaborative and high-performing team.
You are an experienced policy professional with strong analytical and research skills and the ability to develop clear, evidence-based advice on complex issues. You understand policy development processes and can translate information from multiple sources into practical recommendations. Experience in environmental, science, regulatory or related policy areas will be highly regarded.
You are a confident communicator who builds strong stakeholder relationships and works effectively across teams. You can manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment. You are proactive, adaptable and committed to achieving meaningful results.
- Understanding of the machinery of Government and the policy process or demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge quickly.
- Experience in providing support and advice at the senior executive level.

Senior Policy Officer
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) works to protect the state’s environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change, driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy, powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.
DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
