Team Lead Position - Community Group Care Transition Homes

We are currently seeking one qualified full-time Team Lead for our Community Group Care Transition Homes program. We are excited to offer an opportunity to enhance the program while learning and growing in the Child and Youth Care field as we transition. As a Team Lead, you will build meaningful connections with youth, receive thorough orientation and training, and be part of a supportive team.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, you will be responsible for creating and developing opportunities to enhance Chimo's Group Care program. This may include team development, supporting the staffing model, promoting staff development, and implementing Signs of Belonging. Expected duties include on-call responsibilities, scheduling, flexibility to work shifts, direct work with youth and families, case planning, cultural connections, family engagement, and supporting the ongoing development of the position.

 

What We're Looking For:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to provide high-quality services.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience working with contemporary practices, including, but not limited to, Solution-Focused Approaches, Trauma-Informed Practice, Signs of Safety, and Appreciative Inquiry.
  • The ability to complete detailed, time-sensitive documentation.
  • Knowledge of community resources that support youth.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate with families, Children's Services staff, and other stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively with all Chimo Community Group Care staff and leadership.
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • A commitment to contributing to the ongoing success and development of Chimo's CGC program.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A two-year diploma or university degree in Human Services.
  • Experience working with youth in a group home setting is a definite asset.
  • A clear and current Criminal Record Check and Children's Services Intervention Record Check (issued within the last six months).
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record (no more than two current convictions on your driver's abstract). Three years of driving experience is an asset.
  • Training in First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Crisis Intervention.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends. Flexibility is essential to support both the youth in the program and your team.
  • If your degree was obtained from an international institution, you will be required to provide an IQSA (International Qualifications Assessment Service - International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) | Alberta.ca)


Physical Requirements:

 

Successful candidates will be physically able to:


  • Climb stairs repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Help with household tasks, including regular housework (washing floors, cleaning washrooms, etc.), meal preparation, cooking, and driving youth to appointments.
  • Help with yard work (mowing lawns, raking leaves, and shovelling snow).
  • Be prepared to physically interact with youth during indoor and outdoor recreational activities
