Defense Acquisition Support Services (DAS) is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) operations at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows and/or Unix system administration, server management, network operations, and information security.
This position requires a detail-oriented IT professional capable of maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing computer systems and network infrastructure while ensuring system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Unix servers, operating systems, and network infrastructure.
- →Perform system administration, maintenance, upgrades, and technical support to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
- →Monitor system configurations, server event logs, and network performance to identify and resolve technical issues.
- →Provide hardware and software support for desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
- →Configure hardware devices, install and test software applications, and support network infrastructure requirements.
- →Perform functional and technical analysis of software systems to identify performance issues and recommend improvements.
- →Apply knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, information security, and system authorization requirements.
- →Test and evaluate operating systems, networking software, and computer hardware to ensure functionality and compatibility.
- →Develop, implement, and monitor server backup procedures to support data protection and system recovery.
- →Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime and maintain mission readiness.
- →Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, and standard operating procedures.
- →Collaborate with technical teams and government stakeholders to support operational requirements and resolve system-related challenges.
Requirements
~2 min read- Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within the past eight (8) years in system administration, network administration, or related IT operations.
- Experience administering Windows and/or Unix operating systems and network environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and information security principles.
- Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers.
- Experience supporting desktop and laptop computers, printers, and associated hardware and software.
- Knowledge of system monitoring, event logs, server backups, and recovery procedures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-focused environment.
