Work Environment:
- Full time Laboratory Based; Kidlington, Oxford, UK.
- Travel may be very rarely required, on an ad hoc basis.
Shift Work
- 8.5 hour shift rota basis (inclusive of lunch)
- Weekly Shift Times scheduled each week on a rota & communicated by your Line Manager

Specimen Dissection - Team Leadership - The Highest Standards
This is not a standard lab role. Ours is not a standard Histopathology Lab.

Your role
- Undertake daily dissection benchwork for categories A to C (evolving to D&E with service demands)
- Supervise the performance of MLA, BMA & others, ensuring timely delivery of laboratory targets & dissection quality
- Provide specialist advice to service users
- Develop and maintain the standard operating procedures for use within the lab, in accordance with relevant regulatory standards including RCPath guidelines
- Co-lead internal audit cycles and UKAS/ISO 15189 readiness activity
- Ensure QC and QA procedures are followed, escalating issues to the laboratory or quality manager as needed.
- Design and deliver in-house training and competency assessments, if required.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements including GDPR and UKAS, and maintain strict patient and data confidentiality at all times
- Deputise for the Seniors or Lab Manager for operational matters during planned absence, if needed

What you need to succeed;
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, maintained at all times with active CPD
- Hold a BSc Biomedical Science Degree
- Ideally have completed your IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Dissection OR a Masters
- Strong Specimen dissection experience - Category A-C minimum (Category D&E ideally)
- Minimum of 4-5+ years in a UKAS-accredited histopathology or cellular pathology laboratory (Uk based)
- Confidence with special stains, embedding, microtome, and section cutting
- Experience mentoring or supervising laboratory staff
Digital pathology experience is a bonus, not a barrier. If you are curious and driven, we will build that with you.
