We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals to join our Environmental Services Housekeeping team. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the facility to ensure a healthy and comfortable living and working environment.
At Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) we serve citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are an intermediate care facility operated by the Department of Behavioral health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) where we support individuals in state-of-the-art homes with accommodations unique to their specific needs. About the Role
~1 min readThis position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.
- Perform routine cleaning of resident rooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Follow established cleaning procedures and infection control standards.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Dispose of trash and recycling in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
Requirements

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- General knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning supplies.
- Knowledge of safety practices related to housekeeping work.
- Self-directed and motivated with good attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions to perform required tasks

7:30 am – 4:00 pm may include holidays.
All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s pre-service training program for Direct Support Professional Staff, to include Person Centered Approach techniques, CPR/First Aid Certification, TOVA, medication administration, nutritional management and physical/behavioral management, for continued employment. Training in behavior management and crisis intervention is available. (Preservice training class is 5 days long 8:00 am to 4:30 pm).
