Job Duties

This position is offering a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 40 hours annual leave with a one-year agreement. 

The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector Supervisor within the Long-Term Care Unit to conduct onsite surveys, inspections, and complaint investigations of medical facilities in Northern Virginia.

The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector Supervisor within the Long-Term Care Unit to oversee inspections, surveys, and complaint investigations of healthcare facilities in Northern Virginia. The position formally supervises inspectors/surveyors to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with state and federal regulations and may conduct inspections and investigations as needed.

Key responsibilities include supervising inspection and complaint investigation activities, developing inspector work schedules, reviewing survey reports, addressing regulatory and survey process questions, verifying applications meet regulatory requirements, maintaining databases reflecting changes to licensed and certified healthcare facilities, and providing technical assistance to providers. This mobile worker position requires approximately 80% travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in articulate and legally defensible manner
• Knowledge of quality-of-care issues, health care operations, management and service delivery systems
• Ability to interpret and consistently apply laws and regulations and understand consequence of violations
• Management skills in planning, analysis, scheduling, team building and providing customer services
• General knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Ability to supervise a diverse workforce, which may be dispersed throughout the state in home-based offices
• If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFI’s must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] within 90 days of hire date and annually except for Complaint Unit

Additional Considerations

• Prior Medical Facilities Inspector (MFI) experience
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations
• Prior supervisory experience
