Overview:
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment, engines, and machinery to ensure reliable and efficient operation. This role requires strong technical skills, hands-on experience with mechanical systems, and the ability to diagnose faults accurately. The Mechanic plays a critical part in minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, continuous operations across the site or facility.

Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, engines, pumps, compressors, generators, and related machinery.

Conduct routine preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

Diagnose mechanical faults using testing tools, equipment manuals, and troubleshooting procedures.

Perform mechanical overhauls, component replacements, and system upgrades as required.

Read and interpret technical drawings, mechanical schematics, and maintenance manuals.

Ensure all mechanical work is carried out according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures.

Requirements

Mechanical Trade Certificate (essential).

Additional certifications in hydraulics, diesel mechanics, or equipment maintenance (advantageous).

Valid medical fitness certificate (if required by the work environment).

Safety training certificates (e.g., Basic Safety, working at heights) are an advantage.

3-5 years experience in mechanical maintenance, repairs, or equipment servicing.

Experience with engines, rotating equipment, and industrial machinery (mining, marine, construction, or plant environments preferred).

Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues.

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (preferred).

Further mechanical or equipment-specific training is beneficial.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, engine components, and industrial machinery.
