The Janitorial Supervisor oversees daily custodial operations, ensuring quality cleaning services, workplace safety, and effective staff performance. This position provides leadership, training, and support to employees, including individuals with significant disabilities, helping them develop workplace skills and achieve professional growth while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Plan, direct, and coordinate daily janitorial activities to meet operational goals and quality standards.
- →Inspect completed work to ensure cleanliness and compliance with established standards.
- →Monitor equipment condition, identify maintenance needs, and report issues to the Project Manager.
- →Identify supply and equipment needs and submit requests for approval.
- →Train employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and workplace safety.
- →Provide leadership and guidance to employees while promoting teamwork and professional development.
- →Identify training needs and coordinate staff development opportunities.
- →Participate in employee interviews and provide hiring recommendations.
- →Address attendance concerns, review leave requests, and provide employee feedback.
- →Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss assignments, priorities, and inspection results.
- →Work with Employment Services to support employee program plans and appropriate accommodations.
- →Resolve workplace concerns and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- →Maintain required documentation and complete all Didlake training.
- →Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
You bring custodial experience, leadership skills, and knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures. You are dependable, organized, and comfortable supervising employees, resolving workplace concerns, and maintaining quality standards. Strong communication skills and the ability to support employees with disabilities are essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of custodial services experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, custodial tools, chemicals, and cleaning products required.
- Knowledge of contracts, budgets, safety, and health regulations preferred.
- A valid REAL ID is required to enter this worksite.
- Possess the ability to pass a background check and maintain a clearance.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train employees on custodial procedures, equipment, and workplace safety.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees with disabilities.
- Ability to respond to emergency operations, including snow removal, as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical activities, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with employees, customers, and Didlake clients.
