Why This Role Matters
The Lead Janitor plays a key role in ensuring high-quality custodial services are delivered in compliance with Federal contract requirements. This position provides daily leadership, coordination, and oversight of custodial staff while upholding Didlake’s mission to create opportunities that enrich the lives of people with disabilities.
What You Will Do
- Provide overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of custodial staff assigned to the contract.
- Plan, assign, and direct work in accordance with contract requirements, Didlake policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Clean floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Polish metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets and remove trash.
- Replenish bathroom and floor supplies.
- Assign tasks, issue supplies and equipment, and inspect completed work for quality and compliance with standards.
- Train employees on assigned work, proper use of equipment, supplies, and safety procedures.
- Address employee and customer concerns, resolving issues or referring them to a supervisor as needed.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating dependability, strong work ethic, business ethics, and professional appearance.
- Foster a positive team environment and support quality performance.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and timely.
- Act as a good steward of employer and government resources.
- Follow all safety standards and guidelines in the use of equipment and job-related activities.
- Fill in for general cleaning staff as needed.
- Transport teams, supplies, and equipment to worksites as required.
- Complete and maintain all required Didlake training.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Didlake's automobile policy. Requirements include but are not limited to a minimum of 3 years of licensed driving and being at least 25 years old.
- →Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance background check.
- →Working knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals, including scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, and EZ-Go equipment.
- →Ability to read simple instructions, distinguish between words and numbers, and communicate verbally and in writing using simple sentences.
- →Ability to remind and retrain staff on standard operating procedures and safe equipment use.
- →Ability to exercise good judgment in daily responsibilities.
- →Knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment.
- →High initiative, adaptability, reliability, flexibility, and a positive team-oriented attitude.
