ADOC Canine Assistant Handler

Pay Range: $45,556.80 - $76,166.40

Note: The starting salary is determined based on education, experience, or a combination of both.
Location pay differentials available for medium (5%) and maximum (10%) security prisons.

Location: Various locations across the state.

The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Special Services Division is currently seeking applicants for Corrections Canine Assistant Handler. These positions are located throughout the state and provide a competitive salary range for qualified applicants.

The Corrections Canine Assistant Handler is a full-time position within the Special Services Division of the ADOC. This is canine handling work in the performance of law enforcement certified detection and tracking duties for the ADOC. Applicants must meet the requirements below:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 12 months of experience performing canine handling work in the performance of law enforcement detection and tracking duties.
• All qualified applicants must possess active certification by Alabama Peace Officer's Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) as a law enforcement officer or equivalent law enforcement academy. A copy of the APOSTC certificate must be included with each application. If using an equivalent certification, a letter documenting current, active status provided by the certifying post must be attached to the certification in accordance with APOSTC standards.
