Location:           Wisconsin - this role is place based in Wisconsin. Please do not apply if you do not live or intend to live in Wisconsin. 

Salary Range:   $62,000-72,000 , depending on experience and location (range adjusted for location)

Purpose

The Campaign Organizer is a key member of the Dream.Org Justice team, working under the direction of the Justice Director to develop and execute strategies that mobilize directly impacted communities, service providers, business leaders, and others affected by criminal justice policy. In this role, you will  identify, recruit, and develop community members into effective advocates and campaign volunteers,engage and empower communities to advocate for systemic change by organizing statewide events, leveraging online organizing platforms, and delivering educational trainings. 


Note: This is a 1-Year funded position with continued employment contingent on funding


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute on-the-ground campaign events and remote gatherings, such as educational community convenings and training
  • Lead state legislative advocacy efforts in Wisconsin to advance the organization’s mission and policy goals.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with policymakers, lobbyists, nonprofit leaders, and other stakeholders to build support for priority legislation.
  • Coordinate cross-sector advocacy efforts to align messaging, strategy, and legislative outreach.
  • Track legislative activity and guide opportunities for engagement to help move bills over the finish line.
  • Serve as a visible representative of the organization in legislative meetings, hearings, and coalition discussions.
  • Collaborate with digital organizers to create engaging online campaign content and action opportunities
  • Assist with advocacy skills training for directly impacted individuals and other stakeholders
  • Draft campaign materials, such as toolkits and one-pagers
  • Support Empathy Network Leaders and Health and Justice Ambassadors in running campaigns for legislative and/or agency change in their state or local region and hold them accountable to mutually agreed-upon objectives
  • Identify, recruit, and develop community leaders into advocates and campaign volunteers.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years working on legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, or social justice/political campaigns
  • Sophistication around a variety of campaign tactics, including in-person actions and online actions that educate and advocate for change
  • An understanding of the legislative process and political landscape dynamics
  • Comfort with online tools associated with campaigns, such as Asana, Salesforce, Slack, and Google suite
  • A demonstrated commitment to criminal justice reform, we value the lived experience of applicants
  • Must be willing and available to travel occasionally
  • Track record of executing community events on and offline
  • Familiarity with coalition leadership and recruitment



Preferred Education/Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and coordination of multiple initiatives
  • Experience supporting or leading legislative advocacy campaigns
  • Willingness to test and implement innovative campaign strategies and tactics
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders aligned with reform goals
  • Strong team orientation with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
  • Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic work environments
  • Experience with basic campaign reporting, data tracking, and performance analysis
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail



Travel:

30% for community organizing, lobbying, education and coalition building

All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream.Org pays 100% of premiums for employee, spouse and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream.Org offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream.Org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.Org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
