Are you a motivated student with a passion for finance, data science, and artificial intelligence? Join the Group FP&A Reporting & Consolidation team at dsm-firmenich for an internship where you will explore how advanced analytics and AI can improve profitability management and forecasting. This is your opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and data science, helping develop innovative approaches to identify margin risks, detect anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making in a global finance organization.
What You’ll Do
During your internship, you will investigate how artificial intelligence and advanced analytics can be leveraged to improve margin management and forecasting processes. You will analyze historical financial and operational data, identify key profitability drivers, and explore methods for detecting anomalies and predicting future performance. In addition, you will review relevant academic and industry research, evaluate predictive forecasting techniques, and translate findings into practical business recommendations and an implementation roadmap for finance stakeholders. This internship is open to writing a master’s thesis. Potential thesis topic: Artificial Intelligence in FP&A: Predicting Margin Deterioration Through Automated Anomaly Detection and Predictive Analytics.

What You Bring
\- Field of Study: Master's degree in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Financial Economics, Econometrics, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience with statistical analysis, Excel, Power BI, and basic programming in Python, R, or a similar language through academic projects, coursework, or internships.
\- Skills: Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and an interest in finance and AI.
Eligibility criteria and conditions:
* Language requirements: Fluent in English.
* Final Selection Day: 01.12.2026 in dsm-firmenich office in Maastricht.
* Start of the internship: 01.02.2027
* Duration: 4-5 months.
* Studies: currently enrolled at Maastricht University or Zuyd applied science university (hogeschool). Your university will cosign the internship agreement.
* Location: dsm-firmenich Maastricht office.
* Compensation: Internship salary is €550 per month.
