JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Transport Systems Officer - Business & Performance Service
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager or nominated Transport Officer
JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder is responsible to Transports Senior Business Improvement Manager to provide technical support in relation to all aspects of current and future Digital Transformation and ICT systems within the Transport Division, with particular emphasis on GIS.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GIS Technical Requirements:
1. Assist with the creative design, development and implementation of all Transport GIS Projects.
2. Create, maintain, and review database/information for all Transport GIS systems.
3. Analyse and present data using GIS methods as required by the Transport Division.
4. Provide technical support and advice on GIS systems to Transport Officers.
5. Monitor and provide support and advice in relation to user accounts via ArcGIS Online.
6. Maintain and update all Transport GIS applications via online servers as required.
7. Maintain and update DENI mapviewer application via AGOL as required.
Technical and Systems Support:
1. Analyse, investigate and resolve any queries or discrepancies with the online transport applications raised by staff, parents, schools and senior management.
2. Assist with the setting up, operation, and maintenance of Digital and/or ICT systems and related network peripherals in the Transport Division.
3. Provide technical support and advice to Transport Officers on Digital/ICT systems, hardware and software.
4. Investigate and research technical solutions to ongoing technical problems, formulating technical procedures where required, and contribute to the broader development of the Transport Divisions ICT facilities.
5. Liaise with ICT suppliers of goods and services in the delivery of a support service as appropriate.
6. Liaise with External Service Providers in respect of work undertaken through maintenance contracts.
7. Project-lead the design, development, and implementation of small Digital and/or ICT systems/assignments using corporate standard technologies.
Operational:
1. Undertake a variety of Operational activities in support of the Transport Divisions ICT systems as necessary.
2. Create and maintain a timetable schedule for operational activities and security back-ups, undertaking security back-ups, looking after disks and other storage media and maintenance of backup records.
Training:
1. To participate in the planning, design and delivery of a programme of technical training and the production of related documentation.
2. Provide advice to Transport Officers on software packages commonly used in the Education Authority.
Administrative and Resource Management:
1. Ensure that copyright rules in the Transport Division are maintained
2. Help ensure that all software licenses are maintained and up to date in the Transport Division.
3. Provide regular reports as required by the line manager.
Research and Development:
1. Capture, collate and process spatial data using network analysis and spatial analysis for Transport Division.
2. Participate in the research and development work of the Networks and Infrastructure Service, including specification of systems.
3. Engage in an active programme of research and development to ensure that problems that Education Authority Units may encounter are minimised.
4. Engage in development work requested by your line manager.
5. Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of the Transport Divisions Digital/ICT systems.
6. Keep fully conversant with various developments in Digital/ICT, particularly in relation to application systems, the Internet and software products which may impact on the work of the Division.
