The Director of Community Services is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Community Connections Day programs. A successful Director builds and leads high-performing teams to create a positive culture and provide high quality services that enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. He or she ensures that all community service programs follow the guidelines set forth by funding agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Manages quality of services through auditing, monitoring and reporting on quality measures, and manages the preparation of program and funder reports.
- Oversees program services and ensures compliance with organizational guidelines, funder requirements and accreditation standards. Provides input and feedback into creating and revising policies and procedures, and oversees implementation.
- Oversees the referral and intake process for new individuals and establishes productive working relationships with individuals, families and funders.
- Ensures Person-Centered Support Plans (PCSPs) are developed and implemented for each individual served, ensures plans are appropriate and updated regularly, and attends plan meetings as needed.
- Develops annual budget and manages budget-related activities. Creates and reviews financial reports, monitors revenue and expenses, and makes adjustments as needed to ensure that program operations are within budget.
- Hires and develops management team and oversees interviewing, hiring, training and onboarding activities for program. Manages team’s performance and provides effective coaching, feedback and performance evaluations. Ensures team members are in compliance with training and employee documentation requirements.
- Establishes productive working relationships with external stakeholders and manages the development of community and employer partnerships.
- Leads management team meetings and individual manager meetings, and ensures that management team is meeting regularly with staff.
- Participates in committees, special projects and community groups as needed.
- Works as fill-in direct care staff as needed.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to hold staff accountable for performance as well as counsel employees, motivate employees, reward good performance and facilitate conflict resolution related to personnel issues.
- Proven ability to maintain positive professional relationship with families, employers, and community members.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to analyze in order to coordinate daily functions of program.
- Ability to multi-task and keep self and job duties organized.
- Ability to think and act independently and according to agency policies.
- Proficient in current technology specific to supporting those with developmental disabilities.
Requirements
~1 min read- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field required, Master's Degree in Human Services preferred.
- Experience: At least one year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Other: Flexibility and willingness to strive for excellence.Person centered service orientation and a commitment to the social inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community. A commitment to advocacy at the individual and systemic levels.
