Requirements
~1 min read- Education: BS in Animal Science, Animal Biology, or a related field. 3+ years or PhD and 1 year.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in sustainability, agribusiness, or marketing within the animal health or livestock sector.
As the Advisor, International Sustainability, you will spearhead the strategic introduction and commercial scaling of any sustainability asset for the Elanco International markets, and support Elanco Program Design by focusing on creating programs that deliver credible outcomes to Scope 3 and offset buyers, designing and communicating the monitoring requirements to the UpLook team, and implementation of emission reduction programs with Elanco International teams.
Responsibilities

- →Carbon Project Design: Own end-to-end design and development of new carbon programs and evolution of existing programs for OUS markets, aligned to Sustainability Program Design team strategy across key markets. Write program design documents and guide MMRV & operational design. Partner across program design, commercial, technical, operations to ensure buy-in and efficient development. Program design support will cover all key sustainability markets as needed: US, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Canada and others as new opportunities arise
- →Standards & Methodologies: Serve as expert in relevant standards and methodologies and maintain working knowledge of key standards and guidance affecting key markets. Apply knowledge of standards – including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science Based Targets, Verra & Gold Standard, and emerging reporting frameworks—to carbon project design, to ensure robust, credible program design. Represent Elanco on global working groups. Manage relationships with key consulting partners to upskill and inform teams as needed.
- →Risk Management and Program Contracting: Manage program-level risk. Provide strategic input on and co-develop program contracts and other documentation required for successful program operation with Legal and Operations. Educate and support commercial teams through contracting implementation.
- →MMRV Oversight: Oversee the implementation of Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) processes for new sustainability assets in key markets in partnership with region affiliates and EKS Operations.
2. Technical Innovation & UpLook Localization
- →UpLook Development: Lead the localization and deployment of the UpLook platform for international markets, ensuring data models reflect regional production systems and local producer needs in collaboration with EKS Operations. Represent OUS UpLook needs in road-mapping and prioritization conversations.
- →Commercialization Strategy: Partner with Global Strategy to identify best program commercialization pathway.
3. Strategic Partnerships & Demand Generation
- →Food Chain Technical Sales: Partner with the global and local food chain and other off-take partner account leaders to provide technical expertise.
- →Food Chain Contracting and Engagement: Support CPG / buyer contracting as needed to support program implementation.
- →Vendor Management: Identify and manage relationships with third-party consultants, auditors, and technology partners.
- →Thought Leadership: Partner with global and affiliate sustainability team members to position Elanco as the leading expert in livestock sustainability through industry panels and white papers.
- Deep understanding of carbon markets, and GHG accounting (Scope 3),
- Demonstrated experience applying key methodologies & standards in carbon project design – e.g. voluntary carbon market experience, consulting, or MMRV design.
- Strong understanding of dairy and feedlot/beef production systems, including direct engagement with producers.
- Knowledge of dairy and beef carbon foot printing approaches
- Experience with third party validation and verification engagements
- English (required), Spanish or Portuguese (preferred)
- Location: United States or Brazil (Major hub preferred).
- Travel: Up to 30% global travel.
- Reporting: Reports to the Vice President, Livestock Sustainability

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $113,100 to $188,400 depending partly on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
