The Advanced Dynamics and Control Laboratory in the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a Research Engineer position in the area of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC). The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on intelligent and adaptive flight control systems, path planning under uncertainty, and machine-learning-enhanced autonomy for Advanced Air Mobility. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Conducting advanced research in GNC with applications to aerospace systems
- →Designing, implementing, and testing control algorithms in simulation and hardware platforms
- →Contributing to publications and reports; presenting research findings at conferences
- →Collaborating with faculty, graduate students, and external partners
- →Supporting laboratory activities, including flight testing and system integration

~2 min read- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date.
- Strong foundation in at least one of the following areas:
- Adaptive control theory
- Guidance and path planning
- Machine learning for control or estimation
- Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with real-time embedded systems.
- Background in AI-control frameworks.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python.
- Flight testing and instrumentation
