Since 1977, Haven Hills has lifted up survivors of domestic violence to transform their lives. We offer shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and activities supporting increased economic opportunity for over 2,500 women and men each year. In doing so, we help survivors of domestic violence find the strength within themselves to break the cycle of abuse and build a new, productive, and joyful life for themselves and their children.
We are seeking dedicated individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring financial sustainability, and advancing our mission. This is a volunteer position that requires a commitment to attend regular board meetings, participate in committee work, and contribute expertise, resources, and networks to support the organization's growth and impact.
- Articulate Haven Hill’s mission and purpose
- Support Haven Hills’ commitment to bring about societal change through public policy
- Select the Executive Director and evaluate her/his
- Establish short- and long-range goals for Haven
- Ensure adequate
- Enhance Haven Hills’ public
- Recruit and orient new Board Members and evaluate Board
- Respect, uphold and model the organization’s bylaws, process, values, and
- Responsible for an annual financial gift to the organization, which includes a personal gift and/or personal fundraising goal during a fiscal year; and a commitment to support of the annual
- Support and participate in fundraising activities established in the annual Development Plan and use proven, staff-assisted
- Serve on a Board
- Attend approximately six Board meetings and six Board committee meetings during the fiscal
- Interpret Haven Hills’ work and values to the
- Represent Haven Hills at public functions as assigned by the Board
- Attend the annual Board retreat, where training, guidance and planning for the year takes
- Excuse herself/himself from discussion and voting on an issue where a conflict of interest
