About the Role
~1 min readEthos is growing and evolving. This isn’t a role for someone looking to inherit a finished accounting organization and simply maintain it. We are seeking a hands-on, solution-oriented Director of Corporate Accounting to own, build, and optimize our day-to-day corporate accounting function.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Accounting, you will combine tactical execution with strategic oversight—bringing a positive, can-do attitude to solving complex accounting challenges rather than just pointing them out.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Operational & Tactical Ownership: Stay close to the details. While guiding team strategy, you will actively own core workflows—personally investigating transaction-level variances, managing close schedules, and untangling complex reconciliations alongside your team.
- →Month-End Close & Consolidations: Drive day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end/quarter-end close cycles, multi-entity global consolidations, and intercompany transactions with accuracy and velocity.
- →Automation & Process Improvement: Love efficiency and constantly ask, "Why are we still doing this manually?" Evaluate and implement modern tech stack tools, automation, and AI workflows to streamline close timelines and scale our operations.
- →Technical Accounting & Compliance: Act as our subject matter expert on complex accounting treatments, coordinate external audits, and maintain a robust SOX 404 internal control environment.
- →Team Leadership & Bench Building: Manage, mentor, and elevate a global accounting team across domestic and international time zones, developing talent and building a strong bench underneath you.
- →Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with FP&A, Legal, and Operations to deliver accurate financial insights and support ad-hoc operational initiatives (such as NetSuite enhancements and system integrations).
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership roles in fast-growing corporate environments (3+ years in public or pre-IPO companies preferred).
- Technical Mastery: Deep working knowledge of US GAAP, multi-currency consolidations, financial reporting, and SOX 404 frameworks.
- Systems & Automation Savvy: Strong proficiency with NetSuite (or similar enterprise ERP). Hands-on experience with, or a strong desire to adopt, AI and automation tools to optimize workflows.
- Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who moves comfortably between the transactional details and the big picture, thrives in high-growth ambiguity, and takes true ownership from Day 1.
