South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team in Asheville, NC. This is an opportunity to work alongside emergency veterinarians and board-certified specialists while caring for complex, high-acuity patients in a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.

Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Veterinary Technician on the Emergency & Critical Care team, you will provide hands-on care for emergency and hospitalized patients while supporting veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.

Triage emergency and critical care patients and assist with initial assessment

Provide nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized and ICU patients
- →
Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics, and treatments

Perform laboratory testing, sample collection, and patient monitoring
- →
Support advanced diagnostic imaging and specialty procedures
- →
Administer medications, fluids, and treatments accurately as directed
- →
Assist with CPR, trauma cases, and other emergency interventions
- →
Monitor patient status and promptly communicate changes to the medical team

Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation

Provide compassionate, professional communication and client support
- →
Collaborate closely with emergency veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and specialty teams

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment
Requirements
~1 min readRegistered, Certified, or Licensed Veterinary Technician (RVT/CVT/LVT)
Minimum 2 years of veterinary emergency or specialty experience preferred
Experience working in a fast-paced ER, ICU, or critical care environment strongly preferred
Strong technical, communication, and teamwork skills
Advanced patient handling and restraint skills
Ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable in high-acuity situations
Experience with ezyVet and SmartFlow preferred
Commitment to continued learning and professional development
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
