Animal ER of University Park is seeking a full-time Credentialed Veterinary Technician Shift Lead to join our Overnight Emergency team in Bradenton, FL. Compensation

  • $20.00-$32.00/hour based on experience and applicable licensure
  • Additional $2.00/hour overnight shift differential for hours worked between 10:00 PM-8:00 AM

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Three 12-hour overnight shifts per week
  • Weekend and holiday availability required as part of the Emergency team schedule

Responsibilities

As the Veterinary Technician Shift Lead, you will combine advanced technical nursing skills with shift leadership responsibilities to support exceptional patient care and an efficient Emergency department.

Responsibilities include:

  • →Lead by example while providing hands-on nursing care for emergency and critical care patients
  • →Serve as the primary resource for Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants during overnight shifts
  • →Coordinate patient flow, staffing assignments, and workflow throughout the shift
  • →Assist veterinarians with emergency examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • →Triage incoming emergency patients using physical assessments and monitoring parameters
  • →Perform advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, laboratory testing, and anesthesia support
  • →Monitor hospitalized and critical patients, communicating changes promptly to the medical team
  • →Assist with blood transfusions, CRIs, oxygen therapy, and advanced nursing procedures
  • →Support CPR efforts and emergency stabilization of critical patients
  • →Mentor and coach Veterinary Technicians and support staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
  • →Assist with onboarding and training new team members
  • →Promote efficient communication between doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service teams
  • →Help resolve workflow challenges and escalate concerns to hospital leadership when appropriate
  • →Maintain accurate medical records and ensure high standards of patient care are consistently met
  • →Monitor inventory and equipment needs during the shift and communicate shortages proactively

Qualifications

  • →Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience, preferably in Emergency Veterinary Medicine
  • →Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • →Strong technical skills including phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, patient restraint, and emergency nursing care
  • →Experience with emergency triage and critical care patient monitoring preferred
  • →Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • →Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • →Passion for learning advanced emergency and critical care techniques
  • →Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
