The Patient Care Coordinate will work closely with the Intake Team, the Director of Intake, and the Patient Reps to facilitate scheduling specialist appointments per providers’ recommendations.  S/he will be responsible for email communications and keeping state-wide spreadsheets and patient charts updated.  The candidate must have a strong working knowledge of specialties provided within the Company as well as alternative options in surrounding areas.  The Patient Care Coordinator will assist in ensuring that protocols are completed timely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Follow HIPAA regulations
  • Utilize EHR efficiently
  • Courteously answer phone calls from Intake Team, receptionists, attorneys, specialists’ offices, et. al
  • Translate for Spanish-speaking patients if bilingual
  • Keep emails and inter-office communications up-to-date
  • Utilize Company resources to determine where patients should treat, based off geography and insurance eligibility
  • Coordinate specialist referrals
  • Serve as the intermediary between receptionists and specialists’ offices
  • Communicate with patient reps, attorneys, and doctors’ offices regarding appointments and reports
  • Document referrals in spreadsheets
  • Upload/download patient records to/from databases in the EHR
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation, motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury cases preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of different insurance eligibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Phone and computer proficiency
  • Communication skills
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Typing – 50+ WPM
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required
Physical/Mental Requirements

Sitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting maximum of 20 lbs.
