The Director, Allied Health Programs provides entrepreneurial, operational, and academic leadership for the development, launch, growth, and continuous improvement of noncredit allied health workforce programs within Excelsior University's Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE).

The Director's initial priority will be developing and delivering hybrid Medical Assistant and/or Certified Nursing Assistant certification-preparation programming that combines online learning with hands-on laboratory education at Excelsior's St. Petersburg, Florida location. The Director will subsequently evaluate and develop additional high-demand allied health offerings based on workforce demand, employer needs, regulatory feasibility, student outcomes, and financial sustainability.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, CEPE, this role works cross-functionally with compliance, academic affairs, legal, finance, marketing, enrollment, facilities, technology, and student support to create marketable, compliant, scalable programs that prepare learners for industry certifications and employment.

This position may be filled in a remote or hybrid capacity, with preference for candidates in the St. Petersburg area. Regular presence in St. Petersburg and regional and national travel, including occasional weekends and overnight travel, may be required.'

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•Lead the design, approval, launch, operation, and growth of CEPE's allied health portfolio, beginning with Medical Assistant and/or Certified Nursing Assistant programming.
•Develop a multi-year allied health portfolio strategy informed by workforce demand, employer needs, regulatory requirements, competitive analysis, and financial sustainability.
•Develop program business cases, budgets, enrollment forecasts, pricing recommendations, implementation plans, risk assessments, and performance dashboards.
•Ensure curricula, laboratory experiences, assessments, policies, staffing, and student disclosures align with certification, employer, institutional, and regulatory requirements.]•Lead regulatory, compliance, accreditation, and certification-related activities in collaboration with institutional stakeholders.
•Establish and maintain laboratory safety, competency verification, equipment, supply, incident-response, and operational procedures.
•Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and develop instructors, subject-matter experts, and program support personnel.
•Build partnerships with healthcare employers, workforce organizations, and community partners to support program design, experiential learning, and employment pathways.
•Establish and lead an allied health employer advisory structure.
•Partner with marketing, enrollment, and student-support teams on recruitment, onboarding, retention, certification support, and career readiness.
•Monitor enrollment, retention, completion, certification, employment, satisfaction, revenue, expense, and contribution-margin performance and drive continuous improvement.
•Identify employer, workforce, public, philanthropic, and grant-funded opportunities to expand access and support program growth.

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in allied health, healthcare administration, education, workforce development, business, or a related field, or substantial directly relevant allied health program leadership, clinical education, workforce development, or business-building experience.
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in allied health education, healthcare workforce development, career and technical education, clinical program operations, or a closely related field, including at least three years of leadership, supervisory, or program-management responsibility.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate experience developing, launching, managing, or growing allied health, healthcare workforce, career education, or certification-preparation programs.
  • Candidates should possess working knowledge of entry-level allied health occupations and certification pathways and be able to translate certification standards, employer expectations, and regulatory requirements into effective curricula, laboratory experiences, policies, staffing models, and student practices.
  • Experience with hybrid or online education, clinical or laboratory safety, faculty supervision, employer partnerships, budgeting, program profitability, project management, and data-informed decision-making is required.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across institutional functions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency with learning management, student information, CRM, reporting, and collaboration technologies is expected.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in a related field; current or previously held healthcare license or nationally recognized allied health certification
  • Experience launching new programs and achieving measurable enrollment, completion, certification, employment, or financial outcomes;
  • Experience with Florida postsecondary education, workforce training, healthcare employers, regulatory requirements, the Florida Commission for Independent Education, national certification organizations, clinical affiliation agreements, or allied health programmatic accreditation.

The hiring salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting
