About the Role

~2 min read- →Support the design, development, and maintenance of reliable and scalable data pipelines in Databricks, using PySpark / Spark SQL, Delta Lake, Auto Loader, and Databricks Workflows to ingest, transform, and serve data for analytics and reporting.
- →Assist in analysing data challenges and implementing solutions that meet defined business and technical requirements.
- →Work closely with data analysts and other engineers to understand data needs and help deliver high-quality, analytics-ready datasets.
- →Contribute to building and maintaining data models, transformations, and workflows within the Databricks environment, following best practices for Delta Lake and structured data processing.
- →Help monitor and troubleshoot pipelines, identifying issues related to data quality, pipeline failures, and performance.
- →Support the management of data access, structure, and governance within Unity Catalog, ensuring datasets are organised and handled appropriately.
- →Use Auto Loader and Databricks Workflows to help automate ingestion and orchestration processes across multiple data sources.
- →Apply data engineering best practices including testing, documentation, version control, and peer review.
- →Collaborate with IT, platform, engineering, and product teams to support the delivery of robust data solutions into production.
- →Ensure data is handled in line with security, governance, and compliance requirements.
- →Communicate clearly with stakeholders and team members to understand priorities, share progress, and support successful delivery.
- →Work effectively in an Agile software engineering environment, using source control, release processes, automated testing, and continuous integration / continuous deployment practices.
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science or related fields.
- Experience designing architecturally robust solutions for complex software problems, especially in data related areas.
- Experience with rigorous software development practices using state-of-the-art patterns and modern practices.
- Experience communicating with different teams and stakeholders to align technical and business requirements.
- Experience with software prototyping, development and testing.
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines that include both batch and stream processing.
- Experience with programming in Python and Spark (e.g. PySpark, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, etc).
- Experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, etc).
- Experience with data querying and manipulation using SQL.
- Knowledge of Databricks and related technologies (e.g. Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, etc).
- Knowledge of relational (e.g. SQL Server, etc) and No-SQL (e.g. MongoDB, etc) databases.
- Familiarity with message queues and streaming services (e.g. Azure Event Hub, Kafka, etc).
- Familiarity with Azure and other cloud-native technologies.
- Ownership, attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
