Dillon’s Water Resources Discipline is seeking a Water Resources Designer/Technologist to fill an existing/new vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

 

This is a new position and is based out of our Calgary, Winnipeg, Fredericton, Saint John and Halifax office.

About the Role

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling analysis and design of surface drainage, dual drainage systems, open channels, closed pipes, bridges, and erosion/scour protection.
  • Complete comprehensive watershed and sub-watershed scale hydrology investigations and hydraulic assessments.
  • Develop and implement innovative stormwater management strategies and detailed designs to mitigate flooding for land development, municipal servicing, and transportation projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and assist Project Managers and engineering leads with water resources deliverables across various project scales.
  • Participate in fieldwork, including field inspections, reconnaissance, data collection, and monitoring programs as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports and proposals by organizing data and drafting content aligned with project scopes. 
  • Contribute to business development activities, client need research, and proposal preparation.
  • Support artificial intelligence initiatives within the Water Resources discipline.
  • Travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
  • Commit to continuous self-development, ongoing learning, and professional advancement.
  • Enhance Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resource Engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience in the consulting industry preferred
  • Familiarity with professional hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with the detailed design of stormwater management systems, culverts, bridges, sewers, and open channels.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Familiarity with local, provincial, and municipal regulations, policies, guidelines, and environmental permitting requirements (knowledge of federal and provincial flood line mapping guidelines is a strong asset).
