The Assistant Director of Engineering assists the Director of Engineering in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the Engineering department at E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences, ensuring the total comfort, safety, and satisfaction of guests, residents, and team members. This role helps maintain all equipment, buildings, and property in proper condition, supervises the engineering team, and leads the department in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Assist the Director of Engineering in maintaining the property, including guest rooms, residential units as applicable, public areas, and equipment, through the implementation of a preventive maintenance program; ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to specifications.
- →Oversee the hotel’s physical operations, including, but not limited to, refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, laundry machines, swimming pools, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
- →Interface with hotel staff and managers to receive information regarding maintenance needs, and ensure a timely response to work orders and guest requests.
- →Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors on repairs, service contracts, renovations, and capital projects, and monitor the quality and completion of their work.
- →Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies, and prepare purchase orders for approval.
- →Ensure all fire, life safety, and other required inspections are completed and any discrepancies corrected, and that the property complies with all safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations.
- →Implement OSHA and ADA guidelines and programs, and maintain knowledge of city and state building codes.
- →Supervise and assist staff in the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and property as needed.
- →Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and developing engineering staff, and manage daily workflow.
- →Assign duties and monitor the quality of work, ensuring staff conform to organizational policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- →Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of team members, and actively promote and recognize performance.
- →Assist the Hotel Manager and/or Director of Engineering in developing and monitoring the department budget and manage expenses within approved budget constraints.
- →Monitor utility usage and support energy conservation initiatives.
- →Prepare accurate and timely reports as required, including maintenance logs and incident reports.
- →Lead the Engineering department in the absence of the Director of Engineering, and participate in the manager-on-duty rotation as required.
- →Perform other related duties as assigned by the Hotel Manager and/or Director of Engineering or management.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- Four to five (4-5) years of engineering or maintenance experience in a hotel or large commercial property, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating team members, with competence in their duties and tasks and a commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to manage priorities, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Good judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Proficient in HotSOS or similar work order systems, Birchstreet, and Microsoft Office.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call emergencies.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- 8 paid holidays per year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
- Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
- 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
- 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
- 8 paid holidays per year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
- Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, the terms of the applicable CBA and governing plan documents will control, as applicable.
