This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises. This job requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
Three (3) years of experience in the painting trade, one (1) year of which shall have been at the journey level.
Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
Knowledge of the methods and skills in the use of equipment, materials, and tools appropriate for a wide variety of painting tasks.
Knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions.
Knowledge of local, state, and national codes.
Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Skill in the repair of spray equipment.
Ability to layout lines and courts on playgrounds, athletic fields, and parking lots.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
Capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations.

Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program.

Leads and paints a variety of interior and exterior walls, ceilings, doors, windows, baseboards, handrails, flag poles, etc.
Scrapes, sands, and/or prepares surfaces.
Mixes stains and paints.
Applies stain, prime, intermediate, and finished coats of shellac, varnish, and paint with a brush, roller, or spray gun.
Uses ladders, scaffolding, and bucket trucks.
Protects surrounding areas or objects.
Moves furniture and other objects and takes down and replaces blinds to facilitate work.
Ensures proper maintenance of brushes, rollers, and other equipment.
Lays out and paints lines and courts.
Uses stencils to paint signs on blacktop and curbs.
Repairs spray equipment.
Performs work on-site or in a shop.
Drives a vehicle to and from locations and keeps the vehicle supplied with tools and materials.
Performs operator maintenance on the vehicle and keeps it in orderly condition.
Keeps records and makes reports of work accomplished and materials used.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
