Our Goals

At Farcast, we aim to improve global prosperity. We achieve this goal by building innovative products that enable access to information. Satellite internet is one of the most important ways to achieve this goal and to provide global connectivity coverage. However, the capacity of satellite internet services is limited by the quality and affordability of the devices consumers use to connect to satellites. These devices are called “user terminals”. Our mission is to bring unprecedented innovation to the user terminal industry.

We believe our innovation will be key in making satellite internet accessible to everyone. Please join us if your goals align with ours!

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to make an immediate impact on the design of a next-generation phased array antenna for satellite communications. As a Mechanical Engineer at Farcast, you will be responsible for driving forward the design and evaluation of mechanical systems in our product. In this role, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to understand design trade-offs, propose and implement novel solutions, and support the transition to production. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in mechanical design, a solid understanding of CAD and FEA simulation tools, and a proven track record of bringing designs to production.
  • Lead the design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems, ex, mechanical structures, enclosures, etc.
  • Perform and interpret FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations of components to ensure robustness and performance.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA)
  • Own 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies used in Farcast products.
  • Team with PCB Design engineers to define and document mechanical interfaces for PCBs
  • Design and build test fixtures required for sub-system and system-level testing.
  • Collaborate with team members to address mechanical and thermal considerations during testing
  • Support assembly, integration, and testing of Farcast Products
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing and assembly instructions for Farcast products
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in consumer electronics, robotics, automotive, or aerospace industries
  • Experience using FEA tools to evaluate and inform designs
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Expert with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and GD&T
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques, sheet metal design, machining, and plastics molding and forming
  • Familiarity with basic machine shop tools and equipment
  • Experience taking designs to high-volume production environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to drive consensus in decision making
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in thermal design, simulation, and validation
  • Understanding of reliability testing, failure analysis, and stress testing
  • Familiarity with environmental testing and certification
  • Final compensation package will include a competitive base salary, meaningful company stock options, and a comprehensive package of cash and non-cash benefits. The final package will be tailored to the candidate’s experience, impact, and role scope.
