We are looking for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (Director of FP&A) to build, develop and grow a newly created FP&A function in a fast-growing environment. Fastned is active in a market that is evolving rapidly in terms of customer demand, technology, pricing, competition and regulation.
This role is critical in bringing Finance closer to the business. You will ensure strong financial rigour and transparency, while at the same time act as a trusted business partner to commercial-, operations-, development- and country leadership teams. The aim is twofold: improve financial hygiene and control, and support better decision-making through robust business plans, investment cases and performance insights.
This is a leadership role for someone who combines analytical capability with considered decision-making, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with autonomy and initiative while building constructive partnerships across the organisation.
Responsibilities
~1 min readLead, coach and develop a team of 5 controllers across Business, Financial and Consolidation
Establish a clear operating model, planning calendar and governance for the department
Build strong collaboration across Finance department, central functions and local markets
Serve as a senior finance partner to leadership teams across functions and geographies
Support development of business plans, investment cases and strategic initiatives with rigorous financial analysis
Translate financial insights into practical recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
Own and continuously improve budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes
Develop a KPI framework and management reporting that gives actionable insight into performance drivers
Drive scenario planning and sensitivity analysis in a rapidly changing market environment
Provide financial leadership on network expansion, capital allocation and investment prioritisation
Help management balance growth ambitions with financial discipline and return requirements
Ensure high-quality consolidation input, cross-country comparability and alignment of planning assumptions across markets
Support management in understanding local market performance while maintaining group-wide standards and visibility
Contribute to supervisory board, management board and investor-level reporting materials as needed.
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or similar
8-10 years of relevant experience in FP&A, business control, corporate finance or related finance leadership roles in a multinational, fast-paced and preferably capital-intensive environment
Experience leading teams and building or transforming finance capabilities
Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, performance management and investment appraisal
Experience partnering with senior business stakeholders and challenging them constructively
Analytical and conceptual thinker, with the ability to connect financials to operational and strategic realities
Clear and engaging communicator, able to make finance accessible to non-finance audiences
Collaborative and empathic working style, with a talent for building trust across teams and geographies
Takes initiative and brings structure to ambiguous situations with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach
High standards for quality and follow-through, balanced with a supportive mindset
Comfortable navigating a growing organisation where processes and systems are still taking shape
