Senior Unreal Engineer (contractor)

Position Title: Senior Unreal Engineer (Contractor) Overview:We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Unreal Engineer on a contract basis to join our dynamic team.
Design & Development: Architect, develop, and maintain complex systems and gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine. Utilize both C++ and Blueprint scripting to implement features and optimize performance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 5+ years of hands-on experience developing with Unreal Engine.
Responsibilities

- →Architect, develop, and maintain complex systems and gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine.
- →Utilize both C++ and Blueprint scripting to implement features and optimize performance.
- →Collaboration & Leadership:
- →Work closely with game designers, artists, technical directors, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of gameplay features.
- →Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and other contractors.
- →Optimization & Debugging:
- →Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues to improve performance and stability.
- →Optimize code and game systems to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience.
- →Project Management:
- →Contribute to project planning and technical design discussions.
- →Deliver high-quality code within set timelines and under tight deadlines.
- →Continuous Improvement:
- →Stay updated on the latest Unreal Engine developments and industry best practices.
- →Propose and implement new tools, processes, and workflows to enhance development efficiency.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing with Unreal Engine.
- Expert proficiency in C++ programming and a deep understanding of Unreal Engine’s architecture.
- Solid experience with Unreal Engine Blueprints, shader development, and real-time rendering.
- Demonstrated ability to debug, optimize, and refine complex systems in a live project environment.
- Proven experience working in contract or freelance roles with a track record of delivering successful projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with version control systems.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Duration: 12 months with the possibility of permanent full-time aligned with the game's performance and growth.
- Location: Remote with potential for occasional on-site meetings (if applicable) - Eastern Europe preferred.
- Compensation: Competitive market-based rate, commensurate with experience.
