Crosby Street Hotel, part of the award-winning Firmdale Hotels, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commis Chef to join our culinary team in the heart of Soho. Renowned for our refined yet relaxed approach to luxury hospitality, Crosby Street Hotel offers an inspiring kitchen environment where quality, teamwork, and creativity are valued.

The Commis Chef will support the Executive and Sous Chefs in the day-to-day preparation and service of food across our restaurant, room service, and events. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic culinary professional eager to develop their skills while contributing to consistently high standards and memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items according to established recipes and standards
  • Set up and stock kitchen stations with all necessary supplies prior to service
  • Carry out food preparation tasks including chopping, portioning, sauce preparation, and basic butchery
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth, timely, and high-quality service
  • Follow instructions from the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations during and after service
  • Assist with proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food products
  • Ensure dishes are delivered simultaneously, to specification, and to the highest quality standards
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude toward colleagues and guests

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment, such as a commis, prep cook, or line cook role
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food preparation procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn and take direction
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and quality
