The Director of Model Risk Management is responsible for overseeing model validation, model governance, and credit policy management across lease-to-own, retail installment, and bank-partner lending programs. This role provides independent oversight of credit and underwriting models, ensures compliance with model risk management standards, and drives governance processes that support regulatory and business requirements.
Serving as a strategic partner to Risk, Compliance, and external banking partners, the Director ensures transparency, accountability, and effective risk management while maintaining the integrity of model development, implementation, and ongoing performance.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead the independent validation and review of credit and underwriting models prior to implementation.
- →Own and maintain the model risk management framework, including related policies, procedures, and model inventory.
- →Coordinate model documentation, certifications, and submissions required for bank partner review and approval.
- →Oversee credit policy governance, including the development, maintenance, and periodic review of policies and supporting documentation.
- →Facilitate change management initiatives involving model and credit policy updates across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- →Ensure all model and policy changes are properly documented, tracked, auditable, and aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
- →Partner with Risk, Compliance, Audit, and business leaders to support model governance, regulatory examinations, and risk management initiatives.
- →Monitor adherence to model risk and credit governance requirements and recommend process improvements where appropriate.
