To manage and optimize the Banks liquidity in accordance with the liquidity management framework and regulatory compliance to ensure the cost of funding is maintained within reasonable range. To develop and execute funding and liquidity management strategies that aims to achieve an efficient and optimally risk-adjusted bank funding structure within structural and regulatory constraints to enable business to operate in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Responsibilities

  • →Develop and Coordinate the implementation of the bank’s funding strategy through partnership with the business segments.
  • →Manage balance sheet capacity in relation to the bank’s ALM risk framework
  • →Forecast funding needs of the bank and ensure they are met in an efficient and risk-appropriate manner
  • →Calibrate and mark internal curves for funds transfer pricing and money market funding issuance
  • →Ensure that the bank meets funding regulatory metrics such LCR, NSFR and other internal funding metrics
  • →Collaborate with the Intraday Liquidity Management desk to ensure sufficient liquidity plan
  • →Develop and maintain the Bank’s  Liquidity Contingency Plans
  • →Develop and maintain the Bank’s Funds Transfer Pricing framework
  • →Take responsibility for developing a strategy for the overall funding of the bank in a sustainable, diversified, efficient and flexible manner underpinned by strong relationships
  • →Manage the Bank’s Institutional Funders portfolio, strengthening the Bank’s relationship with these clients
  • →Support the development of liability products and savings propositions with the business units
  • →Forecast and plan actual and contingent funding
  • →Improve understanding of deposit dynamics via behavioural modelling
  • →Drive market development on solutions that impacts funding
  • →Design and implement operational processes and controls in daily treasury operations
  • →Manage various secured and unsecured funding programs, such as repo funding, structured notes, unsecured bond issuance.
  • →Authorization of intra-day liquidity activities in the money market desk
  • →Act as back-up to the Intra-day
  • →Demonstrates pride in the organisation's brand, services and products by consistently delivering on the brands promise highlighting unethical practices
  • →Act as secretariat for the Bank’s Funding EXCO
  • →Contribute to the Bank’s stress testing program by facilitating the stressing of the deposit book
  • →Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Treasury Management, Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration (MBA), or related discipline an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as an added advantage:
    • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
    • Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
    • Chartered Treasurer (ACT)
    • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
    • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Treasury, Funding and Liquidity Management, Asset and Liability Management (ALM), Balance Sheet Management, or Financial Risk Management within the banking or financial services industry.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a management or senior specialist role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing funding and liquidity strategies.
  • Experience in balance sheet optimisation and funds transfer pricing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of money markets, funding instruments, and wholesale funding programmes.
  • Experience in liquidity forecasting, stress testing, and contingency funding planning.
  • Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and senior executive stakeholders.
