Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Function: Engineering Job Family: Mechanical Engineering Job Level: P17 Business label: Job Summary: Plan and execute mechanical design and development activities for medical device systems and components. Manage projects of moderate scope and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure quality and compliance. Acts as a resource for less experienced engineers and contributes to innovative, realiable solutions for medical device components. Key Responsibilities: \- Plan and conduct mechanical design and development for complex components and subsystems, applying advanced engineering principles. \- Independently create and validate 3D models, detailed drawings, and specifications ensuring compliance with GD&T and quality standards. \- Develop and execute test protocols; analyze results and recommend design improvements. \- Conduct design reviews and provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues. \- Execute and document verification and validation testing. \- Prepare technical documentation, proposals, and cost estimates to support project planning and decision-making. \- Collaborate across functions and with external partners to address technical challenges and ensure timely project delivery. \- Apply FBS tools and best practices to optimize design processes and improve product performance. \- Mentor junior engineers, \- Performs Failure Analyses and Investigation reports. Education and Experience: \- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field \- Minimum 6+ years of mechanical design experience in regulated industry (or 5+ years with Master’s) Role and Competencies Requirements: \- Proficient in SolidWorks and GD&T principles. \- Strong knowledge of design for manufacturing and testability. \- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills. \- Effective verbal and written communication. \- Familiarity with electrical safety standards. \- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, and collaboration tools \- Ability to coordinate projects and influence cross-functional teams. \- Uses general hand and laboratory tools. \- Domestic and International travel as required Fortive Corporation Overview Fortive's essential technology makes the world safer and more productive.
