Marketing Product Owner
Quick Summary
This role owns the platform marketing runs on — the CMS, the website, the content publishing, and the campaign infrastructure marketing depends on to ship.
This role owns the platform marketing runs on — the CMS, the website, the content publishing, and the campaign infrastructure marketing depends on to ship. You're the connective tissue between marketing's intent and what actually goes live on the web.
It's a deliberate hybrid, and we're strict about it. We need an operator who runs a tight backlog and ships predictably — clean tickets, predictable releases, no dropped balls. We also need a proven track record in marketing: real campaigns shipped, real funnels owned, real numbers moved.
This is not a junior role. You'll work hand-in-hand with Marketing leadership, report into Product, and hold your own with marketers, designers, content, engineers, and analytics in equal measure.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →
Run a backlog engineering can build from without coming back with questions. Tickets are buildable on day one.
- →
Sit close to marketing. Understand the campaign calendar, content roadmap, and growth bets well enough to anticipate, not just react.
- →
Be the single point of accountability between marketing and engineering. No requests get lost. No releases catch marketing by surprise.
- →
Push back when a brief is thin or a "quick request" isn't actually quick. Good operators improve the input, not just the output.
- →
Make trade-off calls. Marketing always has more to ship than engineering can handle. Sequence, defend, move on.
- →
Bring numbers to every conversation. What's the page doing? What's the campaign converting at? What changed since the last release? Know it without being asked.
- →
Treat performance, accessibility, and SEO as standing work — there's never spare time.
- →
Control velocity–you need to deliver and learn how to be more cost-effective over time. Where do we lack efficiency? How can we be more iterative?
Requirements
~1 min read5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
SaaS background, especially products with inbound or content-driven growth — you understand the website is a revenue surface, not a brochure.
Hands-on with headless or composable CMS (Payload, Contentful, Sanity, Storyblok, or similar). Bonus if you've migrated off a monolith and lived to tell the tale.
Fluent in the modern marketing analytics stack — GA4, GTM, Segment, Mixpanel, or equivalents. You read attribution data, not just receive reports about it.
SEO instincts grounded in practice — Core Web Vitals work, technical clean-ups, or content improvements that moved real numbers.
A/B testing experience on landing pages, sign-up flows, or paid funnels — with the scars from tests that taught you something the hype cycle didn't.
Worked with brand and content teams beyond ticket intake — shaped messaging, debated positioning, pushed back on creative with reasoning that held up.
Familiarity with marketing automation (HubSpot, Customer.io, Braze, Marketo) — adjacent, but useful.
The CMS itself — roadmap, capabilities, integrations, and the technical debt that comes with a platform marketing pushes hard every week.
Web and landing page delivery — the pipeline from brief to built to launched to measured, running sprint after sprint without surprises in either direction.
Marketing execution backlog — campaigns, content drops, A/B tests, SEO work, growth experiments. Sequenced and shipped.
Performance and SEO health — Core Web Vitals, page speed, conversion paths, and indexing hygiene—ongoing product work, not an annual audit.
