FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Central Receiving Surplus and Asset Management Coordinator.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Central Receiving Surplus & Asset Management Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the university's receiving and campus delivery services, including receipt, inspection, documentation, routing, and delivery of freight and packages. This position also supports the university's asset management lifecycle by tagging and tracking assets, maintaining accurate inventory records, performing periodic/annual reconciliations, and coordinating the collection, staging, and disposition of surplus property in accordance with University System of Georgia (USG) and State of Georgia requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive, inspect, document, and distribute incoming freight and packages to campus departments.
  • Verify shipment accuracy, note damages or discrepancies, and coordinate claims as needed.
  • Maintain accurate receiving logs and delivery documentation.
  • Provide timely campus-wide delivery services and obtain proof of delivery.
  • Tag university assets and update asset location and custodian information in the inventory system.
  • Conduct periodic and annual physical inventories; reconcile discrepancies and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Coordinate collection, staging, documentation, and disposition of surplus property in compliance with University System of Georgia and State of Georgia guidelines.
  • Update inventory and asset records following transfers, surplus, or disposal actions.
  • Operate university vehicles and basic warehouse equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and storage environment.
  • Provide professional customer service to faculty, staff, and campus partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • One to three years of experience in receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, inventory control, or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in higher education receiving or property control operations.
  • Experience with asset management or inventory tracking systems.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
