TRAINING SPECIALIST PRINCIPAL - AEGIS Officer Instructor – SPY

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

A U.S. Navy AEGIS Officer Instructor – SPY is responsible for providing advanced technical, tactical, and operational instruction to Navy officers in the employment and integration of SPY radar capabilities within the AEGIS Weapon System. The instructor prepares officers to understand radar system capabilities, interpret sensor information, develop and maintain situational awareness, coordinate combat-system functions, and make timely tactical decisions in complex operational environments.


The position combines extensive AEGIS operational experience with advanced instructional and mentorship responsibilities. Duties include developing and delivering officer-level curriculum, conducting classroom and high-fidelity simulator training, evaluating technical and tactical performance, mentoring warfare watch teams, and supporting advanced qualification programs.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

The Training Specialist Principal must have:

● Education: Bachelor Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

● Experience: 7+ years of USN experience.

● Experience as a qualified RSC (Afloat)

  • Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC): 9502/805A or Navy Additional Qualification Designator (AQD): 2MT
  • Navy Enlisted Classification: V46A, V58A, V66A, V73A or V03C or Navy Additional Qualification Designator (AQD): KA6 or KW2
  • Navy Officer Designator: 111X, 618X, or 718X

● Security clearance level: Secret

● US citizenship required

● Role requirements: Advanced operational knowledge of the AEGIS Weapon System and SPY radar capabilities appropriate to assigned qualifications.

  • Strong understanding of radar fundamentals, sensor employment, track management, combat-system integration, and tactical information processing.
  • Knowledge of SPY interfaces with fire control systems, weapons control functions, command and control elements, tactical data systems, and other AEGIS interfaces.
  • Ability to analyze complex radar and tactical information and correlate multiple sources to support timely decision making.
  • Strong understanding of sensor management, threat assessment, threat centric planning methodology, tactical procedures, and warfare watchstanding principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, coach, and mentor naval officers and senior enlisted personnel.
  • Exceptional verbal communication, briefing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate individual and watch-team technical and tactical performance.
  • Ability to provide clear, actionable feedback during and following high-tempo simulator exercises.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to remain composed and effective while managing complex and rapidly changing tactical scenarios.
  • Knowledge of applicable Navy doctrine, operational procedures, qualification requirements, safety standards, and information security practices.***

The likely salary range for this position is $85,093 - $109,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
