The Product Compliance Specialist I will be responsible for overseeing product and record compliance with respect to various laws, regulations, standards, and relevant customer specifications, providing corporate support through the Legal Department.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →In partnership with the Legal Department, provide guidance to engineering and program management teams on regulatory requirements relating to all products.
- →Review all regulatory documents with the Legal Department to ensure accuracy, correct signatories, legal compliance, and record retention is met.
- →Monitor and facilitate record disposition as required.
- →Understand and analyze regulatory specifications from all product lines including automotive, aerospace, medical, fire protection and other governmental agencies globally.
- →Provide input on regulatory and record retention requirements to internal stakeholders.
- →Interpret requirements and specifications to support and guidance corporate laboratory teams.
- →Assist with OEM and other governmental regulatory and environmental surveys and questionnaires relating to product compliance.
- →Support regulatory and record retention inquiries, compliance document reviews, and provide document control.
- →Analyze Engineering Change Orders (ECO) relating to product changes and make recommendations for compliance as appropriate.
- →Perform ad-hoc compliance assignments delegated by Product Compliance Manager.
- →Facilitate Compliance with all product safety and record retention requirements for international, national, and state laws relating to all applicable industries, including but not limited to ISO, UL, ISMS, ANSI, FDA, CFR, and IATF.
- →Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge Development – Continuously develop knowledge of regulatory requirement applications/tools to support Gentex business processes and culture.
- Communicate Effectively – Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding, considering the unique needs of different audiences and ensuring confidential and sensitive information is handled properly.
- Maintaining a high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
- Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, related field or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years relevant Product Compliance/Regulatory work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Smartsheet.
- Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines; ability to work independently, stay organized, and prioritize multiple tasks; flexibility to adapt to current and future responsibilities.
- Some travel may be required.
- 5+ years of experience with document retention or document control in a corporate or legal environment is preferred.
- Prior service on Product Compliance and/or Regulatory Committees.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Broad understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
