GeoSpectrum is growing and excited to welcome an experienced Electrical Technician to our team!

 

Reporting to the Manager of Sonar Product Integration, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with a talented group of engineers, technologists, and technicians developing cutting-edge marine acoustic technology. As an Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, inspecting, and testing electronic components and sub-assemblies, as well as supporting product verification and compliance through detailed documentation.

You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping ensure our products meet the highest quality and performance standards. Responsibilities

  • Assemble, inspect, and test electronic components and sub-assemblies, including PCAs, wiring harnesses, and piezoelectric assemblies.
  • Perform product testing and characterization using equipment such as spectrum analyzers, impedance analyzers, insulation resistance testers, and Hipot testers.
  • Complete and maintain accurate build, test, and verification documentation, and assess product compliance with established quality standards.
  • Maintain and update product documentation, including assembly and test procedures, to support consistent and reliable manufacturing processes.
  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing group, identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Work safely within a dynamic manufacturing environment, following all safety practices, procedures, and required use of personal protective equipment.
  • Support and ensure ongoing adherence to the company’s Quality Management System.

 

Qualifications

  • Formal technician or technology training from a recognized college or university.
  • Experience with electrical or electronic assembly and testing of components and systems.
  • Proven soldering skills with strong manual dexterity, including the ability to meet IPC‑A‑610 and IPC Class 3 standards.
  • Experience with PCB assembly and testing or equipment designed for underwater applications is considered an asset.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation, including wiring schematics and bills of materials (BoMs).
  • Highly detail-oriented and well organized, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Genuine interest in assembly, testing, and delivering high-quality products.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a technical environment.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to wear personal protective equipment including safety shoes and a respirator.

 

Security Requirements

All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
