Collins Aerospace is seeking a Fabrication Operator I to join the Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs, CA. We create and ship out new carbon for aviation braking systems. You will have the opportunity to be trained to set up the press with die cutters to cut carbon fabric, apply resin to carbon fabric, and load the hydraulic press with composite carbon and run.

Second Shift; Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

Responsibilities

→Learn the steps of the carbon brake fabrication process for loading/unloading laid up carbon composite preforms into hydraulic presses
→Apply phenolic resin to carbon fabric
→Use handheld scanners to track all parts
→Precisely measure using the standard measuring instruments and scales
→Acquire proficiency in use of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to enter data at the corresponding steps of the fabrication process
→Follow steps and procedures of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), WI (Work Instructions), and part drawings
→Communicate potential mechanical or safety issues to your manager and lead
→Learn to operate Forklift and/or Big Joe to place preforms on pallets
→Use basic to intermediate computer skills

→You will gain knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications including but not limited to international standards relating to the production of carbon-carbon brake components & company policies.
→You will Learn how to operate support equipment such as: Forklifts, Hydraulic Press, Power Tools, etc.
→You will complete a department training program in the time allotted.
